After the storm, a serene strength flows.

Having ascertained the direction, Yun-cheng knew two people's strength was better than one. And there was no better choice; brother Yun-wu was definitely the partner for running the business together. The two brothers wore the same pants growing up. The relationship and tacit understanding between the two was very good. Yun-wu is humorous and passionate; Yun-cheng is reserved and composed. Despite the opposite personalities, both brothers aspired to run a successful business on their own. At the time, Wu was working at an electronics & technology company; he was admired by all as the new distinguished gentleman in the electronics industry. However, underneath the flashy title lay a negligent investment that left Wu with a debt of four million dollars. After the typhoon, he received Cheng's call and his dream of entrepreneurship was suddenly stirred up from deep within. Wu thought for a few days. The failure of past investment overshadowed him and had in fact caused him to lay aside his fighting spirit and dreams. After all, it is not too bad living a life of nine to five, especially when you do not want the experience of past partnerships to repeat. Most importantly, he did not want to spoil the relationship with his brother. Wu almost made up his mind to refuse, but ended up with insomnia for three days. For, more than anyone, his brother knew his aspirations which he had hid within. The more he persuaded himself to give up, the clearer the answer was before him.

Three months later, two young men started with a clean slate, held tight onto their dreams, and set barefoot on the path of rebirth. This pair of brothers jointly founded MOSIA to advocate the value of bamboo and step out of the boundaries of traditional construction markets.

With almost nothing to fall back on, the amazing explosive potential of these two young men was evoked. The key issue for MOSIA in entering the timber-based mainstream construction market was to make everyone aware of bamboo as the perfect building material. The application of bamboo in fact began several thousands of years ago. It is outstanding in aspects of environment, health and well-being. It has a natural shortcoming of being unable to fight insect attack, so timber has monopolized the market. MOSIA has successfully mastered a key technique and completely solved this problem. 'Substituting wood with bamboo' is definitely the path all should tread on. A person's strength is little, while if everyone changes, the strength would be large.

Their first store was established in an unstable climate in Shilin. Having not come from a rich family, the brothers had to be shameless in raising capital from relatives and friends. At the time, they put most of their funds into decorating the shop. 'Creating a virtual building site and allowing the bamboo to speak for itself so that the customers entering the shop may feel the difference for themselves,' was MOSIA's first step. They would have the customers take off their shoes and feel the breathable bamboo floor with their own skin. Then the customers would sip tea from cups made of bamboo charcoal at an elegant bamboo tea table, slowly and relaxed. Differing from shops selling traditional construction materials that display their products by stacking, MOSIA was first in service and attitude to set up a quality shop and deliver an open and comfortable space so that customers' feelings can be accommodated first.

Besides arousing a relatively large discussion amongst others of the same trade, MOSIA's brand new bamboo materials also caught the attention of domestic and international designers and were highly inquired after. The first big order at the time was from a developer who was building a well-being residence and it gave MOSIA peace of mind and stabilized its take off. During an international construction material exhibition, which was dominated by a few renowned brands, MOSIA's high quality bamboo material lit up many international purchasers' eyes. The top three South Korean construction groups, after half a year's rigorous testing, evaluation and observation, sent personnel to Taiwan particularly and imported the entire series of MOSIA's bamboo products. From this point on, there was no limit to MOSIA's sky.

From product, construction to warranty, MOSIA drew up a comprehensive up-market service line. Considering that even good materials would affect overall space presentation due to problems in the level of expertise in construction, MOSIA hired an exclusive construction team. Besides enhancement and training in techniques, the essence of craftsmanship was also integrated. A tour to the birth place of the bamboo was also arranged for all team members so they may feel the characteristics of bamboo as being reserved and calm and incorporate this experience into their construction process. MOSIA believes that real service begins after the sale. Once, in order to repair a hundred or so square foot floor for customers, the brothers resolutely decided to re-introduce a style they had stopped selling. The cost of this service was equivalent to multiplying the stock by 200 times. Putting losses aside to win a customer's sincere gratitude is what MOSIA's service is all about. They also offer 3-year free guarantee service, which is the first in the industry.

Both brothers believe that manpower is the company's richest assets. Personal attributes are the key criteria for determining partners. With key leadership talents and an exclusive construction team, MOSIA's quality team was gradually built up. They adopt an open leadership style and treat employees as partners; they use talents and treasure them also. In the round table meeting held on a weekly basis, they will engage in open discussions that 'with communication have no distance.' They would be blunt with each other and consolidate consensus in the right direction. Disputes would be left on the conference table and after that they would pat each other on the shoulder and go out for supper. No hard feelings.

会说话的情境会馆

茂系亚第一家门市—士林馆(现在的天母馆)在飘摇风雨中成立。没有雄厚的家庭背景,把向亲友门筹措来的资金几乎丢进会馆规划中。「创造一个真实体验的情境会馆,让竹材自己说话,让进到门市的客人自己去感受。」这是茂系亚的第一步作法。他们会让客人换下鞋子,让肌肤亲自去感觉会呼吸的竹地板,在雅致的竹茶几上沏上一壶竹炭杯盛的好茶,不急不徐,细细品味。不同于一般传统建材行堆栈展示方式,茂系亚首开精品服务态度,创造舒适开放的空间,第一时间照顾客人的心情。

崭新的竹材除了在同业间造成不小的议论,也引起国内外设计师引起高度询问率。当时接获的第一笔大订单即来自建设公司的养生住宅,彷佛一颗定心丸,稳固了茂系亚的起步之路。在一次国际性建材展览会上,原来是由几家知名品牌割据市场的局面,年轻的茂系亚以高质量的竹材成绩让许多跨国采购团眼睛为之一亮。韩国前三大建材集团,经过严格的测试评估观察,半年之后,特地派员来台亲自拜访,全面引进茂系亚竹材系列产品。这一步开始,茂系亚的天空没有界线。
